The City of Calgary : Business Units : Subdivision and Development Appeal Board :
Hearing Preparation

Listed below are some suggestions that may assist in preparing and presenting
an appeal before the SDAB hearing:
- Contact the Authority to obtain information about the development,
subdivision or order.
- Ask neighbours affected by the development to attend the
hearing and speak to the Board or to write letters in support
of the appeal.
- Write down the reasons for the appeal so that the presentation
to the Board will be complete, clear, concise and logical.
- Have photographs, illustrative material and well-prepared
drawings available.
- Limit the presentation to planning related matters.
- To become familiar with the appeal process, parties may wish
to attend a SDAB hearing before their particular appeal will
be heard.
- Citizens often represent themselves; however, they may wish
to seek professional advice or have someone else present their
case.
Note: An overhead projector and VCR are available for presentations.
