Traffic Section
Traffic Response Unit
The Calgary Police Service Traffic Unit is comprised of 5 Traffic Response Teams, which are responsible for conducting traffic enforcement and the investigation of collisions in the City of Calgary. The primary focus of the teams is to reduce collisions.
The teams are comprised of 8 Constables and 1 Sergeant who are responsible for the investigation of collisions, which may involve serious injuries, fatalities and/or LRT, police vehicles. The teams process evidence and conduct interviews to prepare cases.
The Traffic Response Teams are also responsible for the following:
- Conduct year round Check Stops
- Traffic control at major events
- VIP and funeral escorts as available
