Reconstruction Command Centre
Calgary's Reconstruction Command Centre a first in Canada
In February 2002, the Calgary Police Service unveiled its Reconstruction Command Centre, a vehicle that enables more efficient deployment of reconstruction experts and the equipment they need at the scene of serious injury or fatal collisions.
The vehicle is the first of its kind in Canada. The custom-made body was manufactured by National Oilwell of Calgary.
The $58,390 vehicle provides a briefing area and command post for officers at a scene.
Prior to the acquisition of the command centre, the equipment needed for these investigations was stored in several different vehicles because of space and weight issues.
The command centre is equipped with:
- a weather station
- surveying and photography equipment
- computer and colour printer to utilize mapping technology
- cold weather protective clothing for officers
- and various other tools
