Organized Crime Section
Calgary Criminal Intelligence Unit
The Calgary Criminal Intelligence Unit (CCIU), a joint forces operation, unites the investigative experience and resources of the Calgary Police Service, RCMP, and the Canada Border Services Agency against organized crime. This unit gathers, analyses and disseminates criminal intelligence relating to organized crime in Southern Alberta.
General Goals and Objectives
- Developing sources of information on organized crime
- Providing timely, relevant and actionable intelligence
- Generating and disseminating tactical and strategic intelligence
CCIU works with other intelligence units providing the intelligence necessary to identify, track and dismantle organized crime groups. CCIU contributes to the provincial bureau of the Criminal Intelligence Service Alberta (CISA) and the national bureau of the Criminal Intelligence Service Canada (CISC). CCIU investigators work with personnel within the Calgary Police Service, RCMP and other municipal police services, providing expertise and investigative support.
The unit is composed of investigators and analysts supported by various other resources.
