Crime Free Multi-Housing Program
The Crime Free Multi-Housing Program is designed to keep illegal activity away from residential multi-family sites. The program increases quality of life and residents' sense of security. The volunteer-based program provides certification for multi-family properties of all sizes.
It began in Mesa, Arizona in July 1992 and is used across the United States and Canada. The Calgary Police Service Crime Prevention Unit started the program in association with the Alberta Residential Rental Association in 2000.

- Crisis resolution and the eviction process.
How do I get certified?
The Calgary Police Service runs the program once a year in the spring.
Certification is obtained in three phases:
Phase One:
- Training seminar conducted by police and fire departments.

Addresses topics such as:
- understanding crime prevention,
- the application process,
- community rules/leases,
- active property management, and
- dealing with non-compliance.
Phase Two:
Phase Three:
- The Calgary Police Service will conduct a session for residents of your property. It is necessary to conduct one meeting a year to maintain certification.

Information provided will include:
- general safety principles,
- crime prevention,
- residents' role in the program, and
- Block Watch.
