Communications Section
Call Dispatchers
A Communications Officer must successfully complete 1.5 years as a Call Evaluator before becoming eligible for dispatch training. However, not all Call Evaluators become Dispatchers. Dispatchers are responsible for reviewing and dispatching calls for service, and maintaining contact with on-duty police officers.
The job of Dispatcher requires individuals who have highly developed multi-tasking skills and the ability to remain calm and in control in high-stress situations. This job requires effectively managing information from the computer, radio, telephone and co-workers.
