Medical Standards for Police Officer Recruits
Corrective eye surgery
A vision report must be submitted as part of the application package. Corrective surgery is acceptable if visual acuity meets the above standards. If vision does not meet the standards listed above, a letter from an eye specialist must accompany the Vision Report outlining a professional opinion regarding potential to meet the standards after corrective eye surgery.
Applicants can wait until final selection before having their eye surgery. There is, however, a waiting period of three months between the time of eye surgery (either PRK or Lasik) and the commencement of recruit training.
