Inspector Chris Magnusson

I have been a member of the Calgary Police Service for
over 28 years. I have worked in Patrol, Canine, District Administration, Professional Standards, General Investigation, Vice, Covert Operations, Training, and Identification. I look forward to working with the members of District 5 and the citizens to ensure we have a safe community. I would encourage the District 5 citizens to embrace the philosophy of Community based policing and work with us to achieve that goal. Please do not hesitate
to call me or any member of District 5 with information on criminal matters or concerns within your community.

Our commitment to the community

The police members of District 5 show their commitment to the community in a number of ways. Our officers have daily contact with citizens through the Community Liaison Officer Program (CLO), and with the business community through representation with various merchant associations. District 5 has a strong focus on working with youth in the school system and the community through the School Resource Officer program, and special visits by patrol and CLO members throughout the academic year.

Community policing can be effective with public participation. Strong support is required from citizen involvement to enhance police led volunteer programs. District 5 personnel will continue to engage in discussion and interaction with the aldermanic offices and various Community Association representatives.

District 5 provides enhanced patrols along the LRT corridor throughout the year to instill rider confidence on and off the train.

District 5 office is scheduled to move in 2008 to the community of Saddleridge to a tri-services building. This will greatly enhance the delivery of service to the citizens of the district.

We also support our partners within the schools and business communities and other city services such as Fire, EMS , Transportation and Social Services. This will provide a collaborative coordinated approach to problem solving.

To contact any member of District 5, call (403)280-6677or by email at district5@calgarypolice.ca.

The District 5 management team will continue to work to make this one of Calgary 's finest areas to live and conduct business.
