Assessment Review Board

Guide to the Enquiry and Complaint Process

The Administration Services Division of the City Clerk's Department processes complaints filed to the Assessment Review Board (ARB) from taxpayers who disagree with the assessed values of property accorded by The City of Calgary Assessment Department. The ARB is an impartial board established by City Council in accordance with the Municipal Government Act. The board members are neither employees of the Assessment Department nor The City of Calgary.

The board listens to complaints filed against the assessments of business, residential, multi-residential and non-residential properties, and local improvement levies. The board's role is to maintain assessment equity throughout the city.
