From: Fire PIO -----BEGIN MD5 ----------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------- CITYBEAT - CITY OF CALGARY PRESS RELEASE ----------------------------------------------------------------- At approximately 2200 hours, the Calgary Fire Department responded to the 100 block of Everoak Garden S.W. for reports of a house fire. When crews arrived, sparks and embers were being tossed around by the extreme winds. Two homes were fully involved and a third was being scorched by the intense heat and flames. A total of seven occupants will be displaced as their homes sustained significant damage from the blaze. One occupant recalled being alerted by someone knocking on her door as she prepared for bed. When she exited her home, the fire was already spreading from her neighbors house to her own with the wind being a major factor. Crews remain on scene putting out hot spots while investigators continue to collect information from witnesses. No dollar value or cause has been determined at this time. Approximately 14 pieces of fire apparatus and 30 firefighters responded to the incident.
