In partnership with Child and Youth Friendly Calgary, YouthScape, The City of Calgary’s Community and Neighbourhood Services, the Calgary Board of Education and the Calgary Roman Catholic Separate School District, the Calgary Transit Art Showcase has been developed with this goal in mind. “Our children and youth are our future and they have some great ideas,” says Andrew Phung, Program Director for Child and Youth Friendly Calgary. “Since many of them use Calgary Transit everyday, we thought it would be appropriate for them to have a say in something bigger, something that impacts the entire city!” Any child or youth in grades one through 12 is eligible to submit a design based on one of the following themes: • Transit into the Future • Going Green with Calgary Transit • Calgary Transit and Me • Transit Connects Communities A selection committee composed of transit drivers, youth and a graphic arts professional will select 16 of the submitted designs to be used on monthly transit passes from September 2009 to December 2010. Interested children and youth are asked to submit their designs to Child and Youth Friendly Calgary at 820, 1202 Centre Street S.E., Calgary, Alberta, T2G 5A5 by April 10, 2009.
