On Friday May 9 2008 police attended 55 Patterson Crescent
S.W. and dismantled and seized a very large, sophisticated
marijuana grow operation.

A member of the public who had lawful right of entry into the
residence discovered the grow and called police.  Personnel
from District 2 attended and then notified members of SAMIT
(South Alberta Marijuana Investigation Team.  Police officers
discovered a 3 stage grow with 2445 plants inside the
residence.  The estimated street value of the seized
marijauna was between 3 and 4 million dollars.  

The house appeared to have been unoccupied for some time and
considerable damage to the walls and flooring was evident.  A
bypass was discovered that indicated the culprits were
stealing electricity as well.  This is the largest
residential grow that SAMIT has been involved in.  There was
a surveillance system in place where the interior and
exterior of the residence could be monitored remotely.

Investigative personnel are attempting to determine if other
residences in and around the Calgary area might be connected
with this operation and the investigation is continuing
