Date: Thu May 8 16:44:15 2008 Subject: Shots fired in NE Calgary From: Duty Inspector -----BEGIN MD5 ----------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------- CITYBEAT - CITY OF CALGARY PRESS RELEASE ----------------------------------------------------------------- At about 2:30 PM on Thursday the 8 May 2008 police received several calls of shots being fired in the area of Falconridge Blvd and 64 Ave NE. The callers described two vehicles, one apparently chasing the other with one occupant of the vehicle behind standing up through the vehicles sunroof and firing what appeared to be a handgun at the vehicle in front of it. The vehicles were being driven northbound on Falconridge Blvd several hundred meters south of 64 Ave NE. The first caller last saw the vehicle turn east bound onto 64 Ave NE. Subsequent callers indicated the vehicles went eastbound on 64 Ave possibly to 68 Street NE where one vehicle turned north into the community of Taradale. The second vehicle then made a u-turn and was last seen westbound on 64 Ave. NE. Officers responding to the call were able to locate several spent shell casings on the northbound lanes of Falconridge Blvd. south of 64 Ave NE. There are no indications at this time that anyone in the vehicles was injured or any bystanders due to this indiscriminate and foolish gunfire and car chase. At this time police do not know what caused this incident or where it may have started.
