             CITYBEAT - CITY OF CALGARY PRESS RELEASE

A public funeral is being planned for City of Calgary EMS
paramedic Michael Starker who was killed while on military
leave in Afghanistan.  The funeral will take place in
Calgary, however, a date and location have not yet been
confirmed. Calgarians wishing to offer condolences in the
meantime are encouraged to visit The City of Calgary
Municipal Building where a book of condolences and memorial
has been arranged in the atrium.  

Members of the public can also email words of condolence by
visiting Calgary.ca or legacy.com. 

EMS is working directly with the Canadian Armed Forces and
Mr. Starker’s family to prepare funeral arrangements. The
Calgary Military Family Resource Center has pins available
for the public. To obtain a pin(s) contact the center at 410
