             CITYBEAT - CITY OF CALGARY PRESS RELEASE

The Calgary Police Service responded to reports of shots
fired in the 4500 block of Vandergrift Crescent N.W., earlier
this afternoon.

After preliminary investigation it has been determined that
one individual is deceased and one has been transported to
hospital. This individual's condition is unknown.

Police are able to confirm that a firearm was used in the
commission of this offence.

The Calgary Police Service Major Crimes Section with support
from the Organized Crime Operations Centre are investigating
this incident.

Due to the recency of this event, few details are available.


Duty Inspector Keith Pollock will be available to speak to
the media at 4:15 p.m., this afternoon, Wednesday, May 7,
2008. He will be located at the Duty Inspector's Vehicle on
Valliant Drive east of Vandergrift Crescent N.W.
