Police have laid several charges against a Calgary man in
relation to a shooting that occurred early Saturday morning. 

On Saturday, May 3, 2008, at approximately 1:50 a.m., police
responded to a report of a shooting in the 800 block of 6
Street S.W.   

Upon arrival, police located a man who was laying on the
ground. He had been shot several times in the legs. The man
was transported to the hospital with serious, but non-life
threatening injuries. 

The investigation indicates one man confronted another man,
shooting him several times, before fleeing the scene. 

During the investigation, police spoke to several witnesses
and reviewed video from a nearby bar. 

Police have charged Jibril ADAM, 25, with attempted murder,
possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace, possession
of a loaded restricted firearm, possession of a weapon
contrary to order, possession of an unauthorized weapon,
pointing a firearm, careless storage of a firearm, tampering
with a serial number, possession for the purpose, breach of
recognizance and proceeds of crime. 

Police believe the victim and the suspect are known to one
another. 

Police are extremely concerned whenever incidents of violence
occur. Anyone who witnesses such an incident is encouraged to
call police at 266-1234 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS
(8477). 

Anyone who may have witnessed this particular incident, and
has not yet spoken to police, is encouraged to call the above
numbers, or District 1 GIU at 567-6100.
