Date: Mon May 5 12:19:07 2008 Subject: PA/MRU #08-242 POLICE RELEASE ASSAULT SUSPECT SKETCH From: Michelle Dassinger -----BEGIN MD5 ----------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------- CITYBEAT - CITY OF CALGARY PRESS RELEASE ----------------------------------------------------------------- The Calgary Police Service is releasing the sketch of an individual believed to be involved in an assault that occurred in downtown Calgary in March. On Monday, March 24, 2008, a 46-year-old man was sleeping in the bushes near 14 Street and 9 Avenue S.W., east of the Greyhound bus depot, when he was assaulted. Without apparent provocation, the victim was severely assaulted by the suspects. The assailants kicked the victim repeatedly in the head, face and upper body. Police believe the victim was robbed of a small amount of cash while he lay unconscious. While a Crime Stoppers reenactment and continued media coverage are generating tips, police are still looking for at least two suspects in the incident. One of the suspects is depicted in a sketch that is being sent to the media in a separate e-mail. No description is available of the other suspect(s) at this time. The suspect shown in the sketch, is described as Caucasian, 20 to 25-years-old, approximately 5’10” tall, 180 lbs., with a muscular build. He has short cropped red hair, is clean shaven and has very noticeable freckles. The suspect is believed to frequent various homeless shelters and use support services in both Calgary and Vancouver. Investigators are asking anyone who may have information about this incident or the suspects, to call the Calgary Police Service non-emergency line at 266-1234, the CPS District 2 office at 567-6200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222 -TIPS (8477).
