Date: Fri May 2 03:09:36 2008 Subject: SERIOUS INJURY COLLISSION ON STONEY TRAIL NW From: Duty Inspector -----BEGIN MD5 ----------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------- CITYBEAT - CITY OF CALGARY PRESS RELEASE ----------------------------------------------------------------- At about 11:35 PM on Thursday the 1 May 2008, police, fire and EMS responded to a single vehicle rollover on Stoney Trail just south of Tuscany Blvd NW. Initial investigations indicated that a 2005 black Chev Avalanche pickup truck was being driven south bound on Stoney Trail when the driver lost control of the vehicle, mounted concrete center median, crossed the southbound lanes before striking a light standard on the east side of the roadway. The vehicle then rolled over several times before coming to rest on its roof in a ditch next to some new road construction. The adult male driver was thrown from the vehicle and was treated and transported by EMS to hospital and is in surgery with life threatening injuries. The adult female passenger was treated and transported by EMS to hospital with non life threatening injuries after being removed from the vehicle by the fire department. The Traffic Section is investigating this collision with the assistance of 7 District.
