The following is an update to an earlier news release
regarding a fatal Hit & Run Motor Vehicle Collision that
occurred on April 30th, 2008 at 2020 hours in the 100 block
of Bridleridge Way SW.

On May 1st, 2008 the Calgary Police Service Traffic Section
laid charges in the above noted collision.  Darren COUPAL, 36
yrs, of Calgary is charged with the following offences:

1.	Section 255(3) Criminal Code – Impaired Operation
of a Motor Vehicle Causing Death
2.	Section 255(2) Criminal Code – Impaired Operation
of  a Motor Vehicle Causing Bodily Harm (2 counts)
3.	Section 249(4) Criminal Code – Dangerous Operation
of a Motor Vehicle Causing Death
4.	Section 249(3) Criminal Code – Dangerous Operation
of  a Motor Vehicle Causing Bodily Harm (2 counts)
5.	Section 252 Criminal Code – Failure to Remain at
the Scene of an Accident Causing Death
6.	Section 252 Criminal Code – Failure to Remain at
the Scene of an Accident Causing Bodily Harm (2 counts)
7.	Section 254(3)(a) Criminal Code – Refusal to
Provide a Breath Sample
8.	Section 54(1)(A) Traffic Safety Act – Drive Motor
Vehicle on Highway Without Insurance
9.	Section 94(2) Traffic Safety Act – Drive While
Unauthorized

The Collision Investigation/ Reconstruction Unit of the
Calgary Police Service Traffic Section continues to
investigate this incident.  Anyone with information about
