Date: Thu May 1 05:52:39 2008 Subject: Pedestrians struck in Bridlewood area, one killed, two injured From: Duty Inspector -----BEGIN MD5 ----------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------- CITYBEAT - CITY OF CALGARY PRESS RELEASE ----------------------------------------------------------------- At about 8:20 PM on Wednesday the 30 April 2008 police, fire and EMS responded to several 911 calls of several pedestrians being struck on Bridleridge Way near Bridlewood Road SW. and that the offending vehicle had fled the scene. The first responders at the scene found bystanders rendering assistance to the juried parties and EMS declared an adult female deceased at the scene and quickly treated and transported two other injured parties to hospital with non -life threatening injuries. A young girl was treated at the scene and released. Other witnesses and bystanders were able to keep track of the offending vehicle a 2003 Dodge Durango, silver in color until the HAWC helicopter was able to locate them and direct ground units to the offending vehicle which was located at Bridleridge Circle SW. The first ground unit arriving at the vehicle location took a suspect into custody. Initial investigation indicate that there was a group of family and friends walking northbound on the west sidewalk of Bridleridge Way SW when they were struck by a silver SUV that was being driven southbound on Bridleridge Way and mounted the sidewalk and then fled the scene.
