In response to customer concerns regarding the security
clearance process, the Calgary Police Service is pleased to
announce a new initiative. Starting today, January 29, 2008,
District 2 and District 4 will be able to accept security
clearance applications for volunteers and employees.

The hours of service will be Tuesday to Friday, 11:00 a.m. to
7:00 p.m., and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The
applicant may want to call in advance to ensure the staff
member is on duty at that time. Payment at the district
offices will only be debit or credit card; no cash or cheques
can be accepted. 

District 2 is located at 4506 17 Avenue S.W. (Phone: 567
-6200) and District 4 is located at 3207 12 Avenue N.E.
(Phone: 567-6400). These are the only offices, other than the
main downtown office, which will be accepting clearance
applications. 

Volunteers will need to bring a letter from the organization
with their name and date typed in. The letter must be on
original letterhead and have an original signature in ink
other than black. With this letter, the clearance will be
completed for the nominal fee of $5.00. If the person does
not have a letter, they will be charged the employee rate of
$30.00.

The Calgary Police Service will continue to assist applicants
at the downtown location, 316 7 Avenue S.E. The weekly
downtown hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday, Wednesday
and Friday, and 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Thursday (Phone:
