Date: Mon May 15 11:19:05 2000 Subject: PA/MRU#00-069 DISAPPEARANCE OF PAUL DANIEL RESVICK From: Don Stewart -----BEGIN MD5 ----------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------- CITYBEAT - CITY OF CALGARY PRESS RELEASE ----------------------------------------------------------------- CALGARY POLICE SERVICE NEWS RELEASE The Calgary Police Service is seeking the public's assistance in determining the whereabouts and/or circumstances surrounding the disappearance, more than one year ago, of then 19-year-old Calgary resident Paul Daniel RESVICK. RESVICK went missing on Friday, March 26, 1999. The Calgary Police Service conducted an investigation into RESVICK'S disappearance and suspect foul play. Police investigations reveal that on March 21, 1999, RESVICK broke into a home on Dover Crescent S.E. and stole a large quantity of marijuana growing in the basement. The next day, three males forced their way into RESVICK'S home and, at gunpoint, demanded to see the person responsible for the marijuana theft. RESVICK, who was not home at the time, later returned the marijuana by throwing it into the yard he had stolen it from. He then initiated contact with one of the males who had forced his way into the home. RESVICK met the male, who had given the name "Mark," at the McDonald's Restaurant on 17th Avenue S.E. on March 26, 1999. "Mark" was also seen in the McDonald's parking lot speaking with an unidentified male who was driving a black GMC or Chevrolet truck with the word "Grizzly" on the side. "Mark" is described as a white male, six feet tall, with long black hair and a goatee. He may also be asthmatic. Following the meeting at McDonald's, RESVICK was taken to a home in the Dover area. He later left with two unidentified individuals and was taken outside the city to guard a marijuana grow operation as payment for his March 21st theft. It is thought that RESVICK refused to do this. Prior to his disappearance, RESVICK had indicated to family and friends that he wanted to meet the people he had stolen the marijuana from in the hopes that he could save them from future home invasions or threats. It is believed these actions resulted in RESVICK'S disappearance and possible death. Investigators are asking anyone with information regarding the circumstances surrounding Paul Daniel RESVICK'S disappearance to call the Calgary Police Service at 266-1234 or, should the caller wish to remain anonymous, to contact CrimeStoppers at 262-8477(TIPS).
